Introduction of key members of Mercuria.

Toshihiro Toyoshima

CEO

He joined DBJ in 1985 where he has led a number of innovative projects at Electric Office, Project Finance Department, Planning Dept for Investment Banking including pioneering project finance deals and real-estate securitization deals in Japan as well as introduced PFI and turnaround management. He also worked at the World Bank as a senior deputy director in charge of the private sector and was responsible for the privatization of state-owned enterprises in African nations.
He joined MIC in 2005 while leading the Growth Cross-Border Investment Group at DBJ supervising all the growth sector investment. He was elected CEO of MIC in October 2008.
Graduated from the University of Tokyo with a bachelor’s degree in law and from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a master’s degree in real estate studies and urban planning.

Hideya Ishino

Executive Director, Head of Asset Investment Dept.

He joined Salomon Brothers in 1986 and played a leading role in marketing financial derivative products in their early years in Japan and delivered many innovative structured deals. After 2000 he was engaged in venture financing mainly in internet-related sectors as well as in management at venture companies where he led a cross-border JV and M&A.
He joined MIC in 2008 and is a director since April 2010.
Graduated from the University of Tokyo with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts.

Kiyoto Koyama

Executive Director, Head of Business Investment Dept.

He joined DBJ in 1990 and through his career at Electric Office, Information & Communication Dept., Project Finance Dept., Turn-around Dept. and Planning Dept. for Investment Banking, he has led and executed many innovative projects which range from project financing, real-estate securitization, PFI, to turnaround management.
He is a director at MIC since October 2005.
Graduated from Tohoku University with a bachelor’s degree in law, and from Columbia University Professional Fellow Program.

Ryoma Nakai

Executive Officer, Head of Client Investor Relations Dept.

He joined Salomon Brothers in 1988 where he played a leading role at the fixed income arbitrage proprietary trading desk. He also has been managing fixed income products and funds at Tudor Capital Japan, Nikko Citi group and Asuka Asset Management.
He joined MIC in 2014.
Graduated from Tokyo University with a bachelor’s degree in law.

Xiaolin Xu

Executive Officer, China Business Leader

He has been engaged in many Japan-China M&A deals at KPMG (Shanghai), Lehmann Brothers (Tokyo), KPMG (Tokyo) and Cast Consulting, and has provided thorough consulting services related to legal issues, tax and general business practice, among others.
He joined Mercuria Investment in 2008, and leads the China Bureau.
Graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, College of Economics and Management, and from Hitotsubashi University with a master’s degree in business administration.

Yusuke Takigawa

Executive Officer, Head of Finance & Control Dept., CPA

Yusuke Takigawa joined PwC in 2003 after starting his career in Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank.
Prior to joining Mercuria, he played roles in providing financial advisory services, such as due diligence, valuation and turnarounds, on buyouts and M&As for private equity funds and business corporations for more than 10 years. He was also engaged in investments targeting domestic and overseas SMEs while he was seconded to a financial institution for 2 years.
After joining Mercuria in 2014, he has been engaged in internal control operations, such as formulating business plans, structuring a consolidation closing system and planning capital policies.

Akira Kambe

Chief Compliance Officer

After working at a patent firm, Akira Kambe joined Asuka Asset Management and American Express.
Before joining Mercuria, he was engaged in regulatory compliance under the Installment Sales Act and the Moneylending Business Act, handling of anti-social forces, and AML/KYC controls in AMEX. Prior to this position, he gained experience in regulatory compliance under the Financial Exchange and Instrument Act and responding to SESC inspection for overseas hedge funds in Asuka.
After joining Mercuria in 2015, he was engaged in internal audit and now oversees the compliance function of Mercuria.

Yuichi Shibuta

Vice President

Yuichi Shibuta joined ANA in 2008 after working for PwC Consulting, IBM Business Consulting Service and KPMG FAS as a consultant. Since 2013, he served for business management of ANA Holdings and Vanilla Air. He designed their business plans and was also engaged in currency and oil hedging strategies and in aircraft portfolio management policies. He played a prominent role in setting up business strategies and operations for the LCC arm.
He joined Mercuria in 2015.
